How to set up Two-factor Authentication (2FA) for the first time

After entering your Avinode login and password, you’ll be prompted to set up two-factor authentication. Avinode supports 2FA via Google Authenticator or similar apps, One-time codes sent via SMS,  and Guardian App Authenticator.

Step 1: Verify your phone number 

• Enter your mobile phone number.

• Click Send Code.

• Enter the verification code you receive via SMS to confirm your number.

Tip: If you already have a verified number (Passkey user) you won't need to do this first step.

Step 2: Select your preferred two-factor authentication method. 

Step 3: Follow the steps of your two-factor authentication method. 

Option 1: Google Authenticator App or similar

• Open your preferred authenticator app or download the Google Authenticator App.

• Use your mobile phone to scan the QR code on your computer 

Tip: If you are setting 2FA up from your phone, click on "Trouble Scanning?" to get a code to paste it in the Google Authenticator app or similar app. 

• Enter the 6-digit code generated by your app to confirm setup.

Tip: If your code doesn’t work with your app or service, check that:

• You entered the code before it expired.
• You entered the code for the correct app or service.
• The time on your device is synced and correct for your local time zone.

Option 2: SMS

If you choose to use text message (SMS), you'll be sent a text message (SMS) with a special 6-digit security code.

Tip: Be aware that SMSs don't work when you don't have phone service. In that case, you would like to set up another two-factor authentication method.

Option 3: Auth0 Guardian App 

Auth0 Guardian is a mobile application for iOS and Android devices that allows users to complete two-factor authentication with push notifications or temporary one-time passwords.

• Install the Auth0 Guardian App on your mobile phone

• Scan the code using the Auth0 Guardian app

Tip: If you are setting 2FA up from your phone, click on "Copy as Code" to get a code to paste it in the Google Authenticator app or similar app. 

• Enter the 6-digit code generated by your app to confirm setup.

   

Step 4: Complete Setup

Once verified, 2FA will be active for your account.
From now on, you’ll use your chosen method to confirm your identity whenever you sign in to Avinode.
