Background
From September 2025, Avinode Group will introduce a new procedure for issuing and managing API tokens, aligned with industry security best practices. This change allows members to create, issue, and revoke tokens through a streamlined self-service process, ensuring both stronger security and greater flexibility.
Requesting an integration
If you require an integration with an approved FMS, quoting tool, or another supported system, the first step is to contact your Customer Service Manager or Account Manager. They will initiate the setup under your account.
Please note: If the request comes directly from the integration partner, Avinode will still require confirmation from an authorised representative of your company before proceeding.
Prerequisites
Before you can create and retrieve API tokens, you must meet the following requirements:
Be a registered Avinode user.
-
Have the correct user permissions assigned by your company’s administrator. The following permissions must be enabled:
Company APIs
Technical Staff
Please note: Without these user permissions, you will not be able to access the API section in Avinode for your company.
Creating and Retrieving API Tokens
Follow these steps to generate your API token:
Log in to your Avinode account at https://marketplace.avinode.com
Navigate to Company → APIs
-
From the list of available API connections, select your newly created integration.
4. On the View API Connection page, go to the Authentication Tokens section and click New Token.
5. In the New Token pop-up, select API as the token type and click Save.
6. A new window will display your API token.
- Use the Copy API Token and Copy Authentication Token buttons to securely copy the tokens.
- Important: Tokens are only displayed once. Store them in a secure location, such as a password manager.
7. Enter or paste the token into your integration software to complete the setup.
Managing API Tokens
Once created, all tokens are listed under Authentication Tokens on the View API Connection page. From here you can:
Suspend a token
Reactivate a token
Issue a new token as needed
This provides flexibility to securely manage access and maintain control over integrations.
Security Best Practices
Treat API tokens like passwords–they grant direct access to your data.
Always store tokens in a secure location, such as a password manager.
Never share tokens over email or unsecured channels.
If a token is compromised, suspend or revoke it immediately and issue a new one.
