Missions are trips that have a specific purpose or function, often where extra crew training may be required to perform the flight.
Schedaero's Missions functionality is highly customizable. It allows you to assign a mission category, type, and description to a flight and/or leg. It also allows you to add any special qualifications/training items that are required to ensure crew members are properly trained for the specific type of flight.
Missions Examples
-
Distinguish between medical evacuation and organ transplant
-
Label trip legs as maintenance, training, ferry, charter, etc.
-
Make sure your crew has extra training on the procedures required to fly internationally or into specific regions.
-
Assign crew qualifications for flying over mountainous terrain.
-
Identify which flights are owner flights.
Once you enter a mission, it is shown:
-
On the trip in the web app.
-
In the aircraft calendar.
-
On the flight leg report which is commonly used for historical reporting on flights (located under company→ reports).
-
Through the API.

Additional and Special Qualifications allow operators to assign training and currency items that are required to ensure their crew is properly trained for the specific type of flight.
Additional Qualifications allow you to assign training items. For example, if your company requires that pilots must read a training document or take an internal course to fly into the Bahamas. We will continue with the Bahamas example as we walk through the set-up process for additional qualifications.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS ON TRIPS
Within a scheduled trip, navigate to the Missions Tab. Assign your mission categories and types.
Once an additional qualification is set up, it will automatically apply when you assign the corresponding Mission Type to the trip or leg. For example, in the image below, Bahamas Ops special qualification automatically applies for the Charter Flight Bahamas Mission Type.
When the Additional Qualification is added, the system will check if the pilots meet the qualification. It will show a warning next to the pilot's name on the flight assignment if the qualification is not met.
SETTING UP SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Special Qualifications allow you to assign currency items for trips or trip legs. For example, to fly into Aspen as a 135 PIC you must have flown into Aspen in the past.
Set up for Additional Qualifications and Special Qualifications follows similar steps. However, Special Qualifications must be assigned to a parent Qualification.
-
For example, for Mountainous Airports, you may require your pilots to have flown into the airport in the previous year before they can operate a 135 flight.
Using Aspen as an example, you might have "Aspen, CO" as the Special Qualification and it is assigned to an "Additional Qualification "Mountainous Airport". We will continue with the Aspen example as we walk through the set-up process for additional qualifications.
Creating the Special Qualifications:
-
Navigate to Company → Settings → Missions
-
Follow the "Create New" link for Additional Qualifications.

It will only count the currency item if the mission special qualification on the trip is Aspen, CO.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS ON TRIPS
Within a scheduled trip navigate to the Missions Tab. Assign your mission categories and types. Once a Special qualification is set up, you can assign it to any leg regardless of which Mission Category or Type is Assigned.
